We’ve all been there in our day: in search of a reset, an energy shift, a boost. A 14-day detox isn’t always feasible (wait, when is it?) and that magic little pill hasn’t been invented (or approved) yet. We’re referring to a snappy vibrational shift that doubles as nourishment with lasting returns.
These three warming tonic recipes will meet you wherever you’re at in your day, working to re-balance you to a place of calm, focus or overall health. Choose your own adventure.
You want to feel: HEALTHY
This tonic is the closest thing to a magic little pill. Whether you’re feeling like you might get sick or you definitely are, this medicinal powerhouse prevents and cures all, while giving you a boost in vitamins and minerals. Live in perpetual fear of getting sick? Try swapping out your coffee for this warm elixir a few times per week.
Health Benefits: increase in iron, anti-inflammatory, improved digestion, minerals, vitamin c, PH balancing.
TONIC RECIPE (Serves 1)
1/2 lemon, squeezed
Pinch cinnamon
Pinch cayenne
Pinch sea salt
1 tbl black strap molasses
1 tbl apple cider vinegar
1-inch fresh ginger
1/2 inch fresh turmeric (or 1/4 tsp powder)
Pinch black pepper
1/2 tsp maple syrup / honey (optional for sweetness)
Warm water (as much or as little as you want)
Add all ingredients into a blender and mix until everything is one liquid. Pour through a strainer to remove pulp or keep pulp for extra benefits and a bit of bite. Enjoy!
You want to feel: FOCUSED
This tonic comes with all the fun of a frothy coffee—with super-ingredients that have a lasting effect on how your brain functions throughout the day. Super-ingredient number one is Lion’s Mane. This ferocious mushroom has two potent nerve growth factors, which keeps your brain healthy and flourishing. Some say that Lion’s Mane gives you nerves of steel and the memory of a lion—only one way to find out?! Super-ingredient number two is MCT oil, which is essentially a type of coconut fat that your body is able to quickly digest and absorb, converting it into energy that your brain instantly taps into. This mighty tonic is perfect if you have brain fog, memory loss, or are in need of some extra brain love.
Health Benefits: energy, anti-inflammatory, brain function, nerve-cell growth, immunity.
TONIC RECIPE (Serves 1)
1-2 shots espresso (decaf or regular)
1 tsp lions mane
1 tsp MCT oil from coconut
Pinch sea salt
Pinch cinnamon
Hot water (as much or as little as you want)
Mix ingredients in a blender until a beautiful creamy froth appears. Enjoy! (and probably never go back to plain black coffee again).
You want to feel: CALM
Reishi mushroom is considered the medicine of queens in ancient medicine. Which has us thinking—maybe this is the secret to Queen Elizabeth’s immortality? With our beloved Reishi mushroom being the main ingredient, this take on hot cocoa will support you with insomnia, anxiety and stress.
Health Benefits: muscle relaxing, calming, pain inhibiting, mood-elevating, a high source of iron, antioxidants, magnesium.
TONIC RECIPE (Serves 1)
2 tbl raw cacao
1 tbl reishi
1/2 tsp maple syrup
Pinch sea salt
Pinch cinnamon
1 cup dairy-free milk (coconut/cashew/almond/oat)
Heat the dairy-free milk in a saucepan over medium heat on the stove. Add all ingredients, including warm milk into a blender and mix until combined. Adjust sweetness if desired and relax!
